Vietnam Business Entertainment – KPMG First Fridays

Big surprise for me recently.  I was going through all my old Vietnam contacts for information I could use on my blog which lead me to the company “Events Vietnam”.  I remember this company well since they were the ones that as their name implies, put on business events.  A bit of history is in order but first let me get to my main point.

I AM IN THIS VIDEO AND I JUST FOUND OUT!  I EVEN AM THE MAIN ATTRACTION IN THE SPLIT SCREEN AND NEVER RECEIVED ANY ROYALTIES! (Just kidding about the Royalties)
From original website:  Events Vietnam

In the Video, I’m at:  1:18, 2:58, 3:05, 4:20

So I assume you watched the above video and now for the history.  When I was in Vietnam in late 2004 a gentleman by the name of Graham Potter (who is still there I believe) was the source for all goings on in Saigon especially as they related to foreigners.  He used to put out a monthly e-mail that we all used to determine our social schedules.  Then along came “Events Vietnam” and turned the whole thing of putting on events into a business.  I’m not sure if they are still in business but if you need to put on a social business function then these guys definitely did (or still do) a great job.

I used to attend these functions frequently and have very fond memories of them.  They were always at the fancy hotels and one got to hobnob with the main business players in Saigon.  My job was to recruit them for the main expatriate club in the city.

I tell you this was FUN because there were not that many foreigners around to be honest so you just got to see the same faces every time and it seemed like a special exclusive club.  Now, foreigners are a dime a dozen in Saigon and it would seem the special days of knowing everyone are over.
